Current Books:

Ingrid Ricks is a New York Times bestselling author, eye health warrior and founder of Write It Out Loud, an organization that fosters healing and empowerment through narrative writing

She is a firm believer that everyone—regardless of the challenges or adversity they face—has the power to create the life they want for themselves. It starts with a shift in mindset.

Ingrid’s shift came in 2004, when her first ever eye doctor’s appointment revealed that she suffered from a rare degenerative eye disease and was going blind. It was the jolt she needed to start focusing on what matters and completely revamp her life—from reconnecting with her husband and moving to the city neighborhood she loved, to pursuing her book writing dream, launching her narrative writing organization and spearheading a movement that helps people struggling with incurable eye diseases say “no” to “no hope” and take charge of their eye health through a whole body health approach.

Over the past five years, Ingrid has used her story and lessons learned to inspire audiences to Embrace the Now and create the life they want for themselves. She also shares the secrets she’s learned about turning adversity into an asset and has inspired thousands of high school students to face down their struggles and go after their dreams. In addition to the narrative writing workshops she offers for schools and organizations, she has worked individually with more than a thousand students to help them find their voice and power by writing their story, and has helped facilitate the publication of six student story anthologies. She also hosts eye heath workshops and provides ongoing resources through her Determined to See blog, which has gained a devoted worldwide following.

She lives in Seattle with her husband and two daughters. For more information, visit www.ingridricis.com
